Vendors caught selling illegal substances will face immediate contract termination, according to Labasa Town special administrator, Samuela Ligairi. He stated that such vendors would also be reported to the authorities.
“They should understand that selling drugs will result in the loss of their permits, and we will not hesitate to take legal action against them,” said Mr. Ligairi. He emphasized that selling drugs violates municipal regulations.
“Vendors are expected to provide goods and services. Engaging in drug sales erodes that trust and poses a serious risk to our children and families,” he added.
Ligairi urged vendors to report any suspicious activity on market premises to the council or appropriate authorities. “It is everyone’s responsibility to help combat this issue. If you see something, say something,” he advised.
He also mentioned that efforts are being made in collaboration with the police to tackle the problem effectively.
