Vendors on Notice: Drug Sales Could Lead to Immediate Expulsion

Vendors found engaging in the sale of illegal drugs will face immediate contract termination, as stated by Labasa Town special administrator Samuela Ligairi. He emphasized that such vendors would also be reported to the authorities.

Ligairi remarked, “They need to understand that if caught selling drugs, they will lose their permits, and we will not hesitate to pursue legal actions against them.” He noted that selling drugs violates municipal regulations.

“Vendors are entrusted to provide goods and services. The act of selling drugs erodes that trust and poses a serious threat to our children and families,” he added. Ligairi urged vendors to report any suspicious activities occurring within market areas to the council or appropriate authorities.

“It is everyone’s duty to assist in combating this issue. If you witness something unusual, do not hesitate to speak up,” he stated. Additionally, he mentioned that a partnership with the police is being established to address this pressing concern.
