The Mick’s Fiji Tours & Transfers Vatulele 7s, a vibrant two-day rugby sevens tournament held at the Vatulele District School grounds, concluded successfully yesterday. Tournament director Vilive Qionikorolevu expressed heartfelt thanks to all stakeholders for their contributions to the event’s success.
Qionikorolevu shared his appreciation for the participants, saying, “I would like to thank the Lord for the successful running of the Vatulele 7s. I’m very happy and I would like to thank all the teams that travelled from Viti Levu to take part in the tournament.” This year’s primary aim was to raise funds for constructing a new walkway for the Vatulele District School, inspired by Qionikorolevu and tournament treasurer Asesela Naborisi.
Looking ahead, Qionikorolevu expressed his hope that teams would return for next year’s tournament and emphasized the significance of the sponsors who played a crucial role in the event’s success. Tournament coordinator Paula Batina also announced plans for an even larger and improved event next year.
Additionally, during the cash prize presentation, Sitiveni Leseitoga from Mick’s Fiji Tours & Transfers confirmed that the company would continue to sponsor the tournament for another year, reflecting their commitment to supporting local sports initiatives.
Overall, the event not only showcased athletic talent but also fostered community spirit and support for the local school. The continued participation and sponsorship suggest a promising future for the Vatulele 7s, making it an anticipated highlight for both athletes and spectators alike.
