The Mick’s Fiji Tours & Transfers Vatulele 7s, a thrilling two-day rugby sevens tournament, concluded yesterday at the Vatulele District School ground. Tournament director Vilive Qionikorolevu expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the event’s successful execution.
Qionikorolevu shared his gratitude, stating, “I would like to thank the Lord for the successful running of the Vatulele 7s. I’m very happy and I would like to thank all the teams that traveled from Viti Levu to take part in the tournament.” This year, the tournament aimed to raise funds for a new walkway at the Vatulele District School, a project envisioned by Qionikorolevu and tournament treasurer Asesela Naborisi.
Looking ahead, Qionikorolevu expressed optimism for future Vatulele 7s tournaments, hoping the participating teams would return next year. He also acknowledged the crucial support from various sponsors, attributing their contributions to the event’s success.
Tournament coordinator Paula Batina announced that next year’s tournament aims to be even bigger and better, building on the achievements of this year’s event. In a sign of commitment to support local sports, a representative from Mick’s Fiji Tours & Transfers, Sitiveni Leseitoga, confirmed the company’s sponsorship for another year.
Overall, the Vatulele 7s demonstrates the power of community engagement and support in promoting sports and education initiatives. With strong local involvement and aspirations for future growth, the tournament is poised to become a staple in Fiji’s rugby calendar.
