Police have not confirmed if any arrests were made following a significant drug seizure at Vatia Wharf, where authorities confiscated more than 100 sacks of suspected cocaine last Friday. Inquiries made by the Fiji Times regarding potential arrests were met with a standard response from the police.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro stated that the investigation is still active and emphasized the importance of refraining from speculation that might interfere with police operations. “The outcome of the investigation will be released upon its completion,” Ms. Naisoro remarked, underlining the sensitivity of the situation.

She cautioned that public commentary during ongoing investigations could be harmful, as premature information release could jeopardize efforts to resolve the case effectively. The authorities are taking extra measures to ensure that the investigation process remains intact without outside influence.

The drug seizure at Vatia Wharf has been characterized as one of the most substantial drug hauls in recent years. The police have confirmed the seizure but have thus far withheld specific details regarding the operational aspects of the case. This incident has raised alarms among the public about the growing concerns of drug trafficking, particularly through maritime routes.

As the investigation unfolds, the authorities are likely to maintain a vigilant approach to combat drug-related activities, reflecting their commitment to safeguarding community safety and maintaining public trust in law enforcement efforts.
