Vashist Muni College’s under-17 football team has made a remarkable achievement by successfully defending their Southern Zone title, securing a spot in the upcoming 2025 Fiji Secondary Schools Championship. The team, based in Navua, showcased their skills and resilience during the two-day playoff matches held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori. They managed to remain unbeaten, notching impressive victories against DAV College (3-1) and Rishikul Sanatan College (2-1), along with a hard-fought draw against Nakasi High School.
Coach Kasneel Prasad expressed his pride in the team’s performance, noting their commitment and discipline throughout the competition. “It was a great competition for the boys. Two wins and a draw in three matches, I’m really proud of them,” Prasad stated, highlighting the effort the players put into their games.
In the under-15 category, Vunimono High School also advanced to the national competition after a coin toss victory over Vashist Muni College, with both teams tied on points. DAV College secured their place from the U15 grade as well.
The upcoming 2025 Fiji Secondary Schools Championship is set to take place at the newly upgraded Govind Park in Ba from August 20 to 23, promising an exciting showcase of talent as schools prepare to compete for national glory.
This achievement not only marks a milestone for Vashist Muni College but also reflects the growing enthusiasm for school sports in Fiji.
