Ni Vanuatu boxers Roy Ser and Wasing Warawara are set to arrive in the country next Wednesday.
South Pacific Boxing Promotions promoter Fred Chand announced that the boxers would take a connecting flight to Labasa for the promotion scheduled for next Saturday, August 10.
“The boxers wanted to reach Labasa quickly to acclimatize to the weather conditions,” Chand said.
In the main bout, Ser will face off against Fiji super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific titleholder Winston Hill. The 10-round fight is anticipated to be a thrilling matchup as both boxers have extensive experience in amateur boxing before turning professional.
Hill secured a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, while Ser won a gold medal at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila and trained in China. Ser has also knocked out Rakuro Dauvavana in the second round and Saimoni Ratu.
Warawara is set to compete in the supporting bout against the rising Frederick Chand of Nadi’s Seaside Boxing Club. The official weigh-in for the promotion is scheduled for next Friday in Labasa.
