Ni Vanuatu boxers Roy Ser and Wasing Warawara are scheduled to arrive in the country next Wednesday. According to Fred Chand, promoter for South Pacific Boxing Promotions, the boxers will take a connecting flight to Labasa in preparation for the upcoming promotion on Saturday, August 10.
Chand indicated that the boxers prefer to reach Labasa early to acclimatize to the local weather conditions. The main event will feature Ser competing against Fiji’s super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific title holder Winston Hill in a ten-round match anticipated to be exciting, given both fighters’ extensive amateur backgrounds prior to turning professional.
Hill earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England, while Ser claimed the gold medal at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila and has also trained in China. Ser has achieved notable victories, including a second-round knockout of Rakuro Dauvavana and a win over Saimoni Ratu.
Additionally, Warawara is set to face Frederick Chand from Nadi’s Seaside Boxing Club in a supporting bout. The official weigh-in for the promotion will take place next Friday in Labasa.
