A trustee of the Kulu Kulu temple in Sigatoka has reported potential vandalism after he found broken light switches near prominent shrines during a visit yesterday evening. Anish Pal typically attends the temple on Tuesdays for prayers but was unable to do so the previous week. He noted that the temple was last checked on Friday by his wife and an aunt, who confirmed everything was in order at that time.
Upon arriving at approximately 7:45 PM on Tuesday, Pal sensed something was amiss when trying to turn on the lights. He remarked, “All the lights were on, only the way the thing is broken, that place the switch is clinging down sometimes, so I did not do anything. I went inside the temple and I prayed there.”
Using the light from his phone to inspect the area, Pal discovered that the switches in the Lord Shiva and Hanuman sections were damaged. Concerned about this act of vandalism, he contacted a cousin nearby and reported the incident to the police, expressing a desire for authorities to take action and send a message to anyone involved in the destruction.
The police will conduct an investigation into the incident, as community leaders and temple-goers hope to restore peace and security to their sacred space.
