Compassion, justice, and humility are the essential principles that shaped the work of Prophet Mohammed. During the celebration of Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka highlighted that these values remain just as pertinent today as they were over 1300 years ago.
Mr. Rabuka emphasized the significance of these values, stating, “Such values and beliefs can be a force for good especially as we confront the many pressing challenges in our daily lives.” He acknowledged that despite different faiths, scriptures, and places of worship, the universal need for compassion, justice, and humility unites everyone.
He urged individuals, regardless of where they live, to treat family, friends, and neighbors with compassion and to uphold justice and humility, as these actions can deeply influence their communities.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the diversity of faith, culture, and language in Fiji is a vital strength that adds richness to society. Acknowledging this diversity, key religious events are celebrated as national public holidays.
He stated that the celebration of Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of living in harmony, respecting various beliefs, and nurturing mutual understanding among diverse communities. In his message to the Muslim community, he expressed his hopes for continued promotion of religious tolerance, dialogue, and respect within Fiji and beyond.
