Value City has successfully raised approximately $67,000 for WOWS Kids Fiji over the course of six weeks through various fundraising activities. During the cheque handover event, Managing Director Vera Chute emphasized the importance of collective action, especially as families in Fiji face significant challenges.
The fundraising efforts included selling food packs, running weekly kati events, organizing raffles, and hosting a kava barrel. Ms. Chute highlighted that the dedicated effort from the staff led to an impressive $26,539.90 raised. Value City matched this contribution, bringing the total to $53,079.80. An additional morning tea event held in early September for suppliers, service providers, associates, and friends further boosted the total with $14,537.25, culminating in a grand total of $67,617.05.
Ms. Chute acknowledged Essity as a pivotal partner in this fundraising initiative, noting their in-kind donation valued at $5,000, which included essential supplies like tissues, sanitary pads, diapers, and sanitizers for the WOWS Kids Centre. She commended WOWS Kids Fiji for their tireless efforts and expressed hope that the funds raised would support their mission to provide vital treatments and care for affected children and their families.
With a message of encouragement, she remarked, “Let’s continue to do what we are doing and bring hope to our brave young warriors and their families,” highlighting the positive impact of community solidarity in supporting children in need.
This fundraising success not only represents financial aid but also showcases the power of community and corporate responsibility in addressing critical health issues. Through these collective efforts, there is a renewed sense of hope for children battling cancer in Fiji, proving that together, meaningful change can happen.
