Value City has successfully raised approximately $67,000 for WOWS Kids Fiji over a six-week period through various fundraising activities. Managing Director Vera Chute highlighted the significance of collective responsibility in supporting Fijian children and families facing unexpected hardships during the cheque handover event.
The fundraising initiatives included the sale of food packs, weekly kati, raffles, and a kava barrel, which collectively yielded $26,539.90 from the dedicated staff efforts. This amount was matched by Value City, bringing the total to $53,079.80. Additionally, a morning tea held in early September for suppliers, service providers, business associates, and friends raised another $14,537.25. This cumulative effort resulted in a grand total of $67,617.05 raised for the cause.
A vital partner in this year’s fundraising endeavor was Essity, which contributed in-kind donations valued at $5,000. These donations included essential items like tissues, sanitary pads, diapers, and sanitizers, which will be put to use at the WOWS Kids Centre.
Chute commended the hard work of WOWS Kids Fiji, expressing her hope that the funds raised would significantly aid their mission to provide critical treatments, medication, and care to affected children and their families. She underscored the importance of continuing these efforts to bring hope to the brave young warriors and their families in the community.
This remarkable fundraising initiative not only highlights the generosity and compassion of the community but also serves as a hopeful reminder of the positive impact that collective efforts can have on vulnerable children and families facing challenging circumstances. The support from both Value City and Essity showcases a commitment to creating a better future for those in need, bringing a sense of hope in difficult times.
