Value City successfully raised approximately $67,000 for WOWS Kids Fiji over a six-week period through various fundraising activities. During the cheque presentation event, Managing Director Vera Chute emphasized the vital role of community support, especially as families in Fiji confront unforeseen difficulties.
Chute highlighted a range of fundraising efforts, including the sale of food packs, weekly kati, raffles, and a kava barrel, which collectively resulted in $26,539.90 from staff contributions alone. Value City then matched these funds, bringing the interim total to $53,079.80. A morning tea held in early September, attended by suppliers, service providers, business associates, and Value City friends, added another $14,537.25 to the total. Ultimately, these initiatives culminated in a grand total of $67,617.05.
A noteworthy partner in this year’s fundraising drive was Essity, which provided an in-kind donation valued at $5,000. This included vital supplies such as tissues, sanitary pads, diapers, and sanitizers, which will benefit the WOWS Kids Centre directly.
Chute acknowledged the commendable work of WOWS Kids Fiji and expressed hope that the funds would further their vital mission of delivering life-saving treatments, medications, and essential care to children and their families grappling with cancer. She reaffirmed the importance of their collective efforts in bringing hope to these brave young warriors and their loved ones.
This initiative demonstrates the positive impact that community involvement can have in addressing critical health challenges. It reflects a collaborative spirit and a commitment to supporting those in need, instilling hope for a brighter future for affected families in Fiji.
