Value City Launches Heartfelt Fundraiser for Children with Cancer

Value City Pte Ltd, a well-known clothing retail chain, launched its children’s cancer fundraiser in Suva yesterday, bringing together staff, friends, and corporate partners to support WOWS Kids Fiji. Managing director Vera Chute emphasized that this annual fundraiser is a significant aspect of the company’s corporate social responsibility, with participation from employees at their 16 branches nationwide.

Chute noted that Value City has a long-standing commitment to cancer awareness, having been involved since the inception of Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea. After a two-year hiatus during the COVID pandemic, the company decided to annually support WOWS Kids Fiji, particularly after experiencing the heartbreaking loss of a child among their contracted staff in October 2020.

Last year, the company successfully raised $53,000 for the cause. In September, which is recognized as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Value City matches the total funds raised by its branches. During the kickoff event yesterday, staff and guests collected over $8,000.
