Value City Pte Ltd, a well-known clothing retail chain, launched its annual children’s cancer fundraiser in Suva yesterday, bringing together staff, friends, and corporate representatives to support WOWS Kids Fiji.
Managing director Vera Chute highlighted the significance of this fundraiser as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, emphasizing that employees from the company’s 16 branches nationwide are dedicated to this cause.
“Value City has been involved with cancer awareness since the early days of Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea. After a two-year hiatus and the challenges of COVID, we chose to support WOWS Kids Fiji annually, especially after experiencing the loss of a child of one of our contracted staff in October 2020,” Chute noted.
Last year, the company raised $53,000 for the initiative. To further amplify the effort, Value City matches the funds collected by its branches during September, designated as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
At the conclusion of the event yesterday, staff and invited guests contributed over $8,000.
