Value City Kicks Off Heartfelt Fundraiser for Children’s Cancer Charity

Value City Pte Ltd, a well-known clothing retail chain, launched its children’s cancer fundraiser in Suva yesterday, bringing together staff, friends, and corporate representatives to support WOWS Kids Fiji. Managing director Vera Chute emphasized the significance of this annual fundraiser as a key component of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which involve employees from all 16 branches across the country.

Chute noted that Value City has been actively participating in cancer awareness efforts since the inception of Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea. After a two-year hiatus, particularly during the COVID pandemic, the company decided to focus its annual support on WOWS Kids Fiji following the tragic loss of a contracted employee’s child in October 2020. Last year, the company successfully raised $53,000 for this cause.

As part of the initiative, Value City matches the total amount raised by its branches in September, coinciding with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. At yesterday’s opening event, over $8,000 was collected from staff and invited guests, marking a strong start to this year’s fundraising efforts.
