Value City has successfully raised approximately $67,000 in support of WOWS Kids Fiji over the span of six weeks. The funds were gathered through various fundraising activities, showcasing the community’s commitment to supporting children facing health challenges in Fiji.
During the cheque handover event, Managing Director Vera Chute emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, particularly in assisting Fijian families who encounter unexpected difficulties. Chute highlighted that the fundraising efforts generated $26,539.90 through staff initiatives, which Value City matched, bringing that portion to a total of $53,079.80. Furthermore, a morning tea event held in early September contributed an additional $14,537.25.
In addition to monetary contributions, a significant partner in this year’s fundraising initiative was Essity, which provided an in-kind donation valued at $5,000. This donation included essential supplies such as tissues, sanitary pads, diapers, and sanitizers to be utilized at the WOWS Kids Centre.
Chute commended the impactful work carried out by WOWS Kids Fiji and expressed optimism that the funds raised would further the organization’s mission to provide critical care and support for children and their families battling serious illnesses. She encouraged the community to maintain their efforts to bring hope to these brave young warriors.
It is inspiring to see how dedicated efforts can lead to substantial support for vulnerable children in Fiji. The collaboration between businesses, local suppliers, and the community highlights the power of unity and compassion in making a meaningful difference. With continued support, there is hope that the lives of many children and families will be positively impacted in their fight against illness.
