A man from Valelevu is currently recovering following an alleged assault that resulted in injuries to members of his family and one of his employees. Zaheen Ali reported that the assailant, believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, instigated a violent attack against his family, which took place on Sunday night in the Daniva region.

What started as a peaceful evening for Ali and his loved ones quickly escalated into a nightmarish experience. Ali recounted the harrowing episode, stating, “He started violently abusing me, assaulting me, and my wife, who was inside, along with my three-year-old and five-year-old children. The aggression he displayed was alarming, especially with my children present; he seemed completely indifferent to their safety.”

The altercation unleashed a wave of fear as threats were allegedly directed toward Ali’s family, heightening the sense of chaos during the incident. Ali expressed his concerns for his children’s wellbeing, recounting how his eldest son is now fearful of going outside, indicating, “Daddy, I don’t want to go outside because he might come back and he might kill me.” This sense of dread is compounded by the fact that the suspect is now facing legal proceedings, leaving the family anxious about his potential release.

Ro Miriama Rokoura, an employee of Ali, also shared her experience of the confrontation, noting that the couple assaulted her as well. She described the moment when the altercation reached a peak, saying, “We were arguing until we reached the corner of the car wash area. Then she grabbed my hand while her husband continuously punched me and threw my phone away.”

The incident has been reported to the Valelevu Police Station, and the affected family is hopeful for justice and safety as they navigate this troubling situation. This incident underscores the pressing concerns about violence and the impact it has on families and communities.
