The University of the South Pacific (USP) has successfully obtained re-accreditation for its Certificate III in Early Childhood Care and Education program from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), ensuring its validity for the next five years.
This program, offered through Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), equips students with essential skills and knowledge for effectively engaging with infants and toddlers.
Professor Jito Vanualailai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President for Education, emphasized the importance of this accreditation, stating that it reflects the relevance and credibility of the course. He praised everyone involved in the accreditation process and highlighted the benefits it brings to students pursuing an internationally recognized program.
Susan Sela, the Director of PTAFE, noted that significant efforts were made to have the program included on the ACECQA list of accredited qualifications. She acknowledged the team’s dedication to early childhood education and care and affirmed that the accreditation is a result of their hard work.
Students in the program will learn to formulate strategies through observing children’s play and learning, as well as engaging with legislative and policy frameworks and workplace health and safety. The program also addresses issues pertinent to Pacific communities, encouraging graduates to think critically and become proactive contributors to the workforce.
