The University of the South Pacific (USP) is set to hold its council meeting in the Cook Islands next Saturday, from November 23rd to 25th. This meeting is significant as it will address several pressing staff issues, particularly in light of recent protests. Mr. Radrodro confirmed that the agenda will include discussions on matters raised by staff, such as the appointment of the university’s visitor and the Pro-Chancellor.

Last month, employees represented by the USP Staff Union and the Association of the University of the South Pacific Staff staged a strike, expressing concerns over the leadership of Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia. The upcoming council meeting presents an opportunity for constructive dialogue and resolution regarding these critical issues within the university.

This engagement between staff and leadership could foster a more collaborative environment withinUSP, paving the way for improved communication and addressing staff grievances effectively. As the council convenes, there is potential for positive change that can enhance the university’s working conditions and overall morale.

In summary, the USP council meeting aims to tackle important staff issues and may lead to a more unified approach to leadership and administration within the university.
