The University of the South Pacific (USP) is scheduled to hold its council meeting in the Cook Islands from November 23rd to 25th. Mr. Radrodro has confirmed that a significant portion of the agenda will focus on addressing staff concerns, particularly stemming from a recent protest.
Mr. Radrodro stated, “We have the council meeting this month in the Cook Islands. Part of the program will involve discussing important issues such as the appointment of the visitor and the appointment of the Pro-Chancellor.” These discussions arise after last month’s strike by the USP Staff Union and the Association of the University of the South Pacific Staff, who criticized Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia for perceived inadequate leadership.
The council meeting represents an opportunity for open dialogue regarding these pressing issues, highlighting the university’s commitment to addressing staff grievances and fostering a collaborative environment for improvement.
In a positive light, this upcoming meeting provides a platform for constructive discussion that could lead to meaningful changes and enhancements within the university’s operations. It reflects the institution’s willingness to engage with staff concerns actively, promoting a culture of dialogue and collaboration.
