USA Rugby team coach Scott Lawrence has made seven changes to the squad and one positional adjustment for their upcoming match against the Flying Fijians, marking the first encounter between the two teams in a decade.
Toby Fricker is set to make his debut for the US Men’s Eagles in Tokyo, where he will play as a full-back during the semifinal match against Fiji. However, notable absences from the matchday 23 include prominent players such as fly-half Luke Cary and No.8 Jamason Schultz.
Greg Peterson, the only player in the squad who participated in the last meeting between the two sides back in November 2014, will start on the bench. In that match, the USA lost to Fiji with a score of 20-14. Peterson had captain responsibilities in the first two matches of the Pacific Nations Cup, but Nate Augspurger has since taken over that role.
Coach Lawrence emphasized the need for consistency and improved performances during the match tomorrow night. The game is scheduled to begin at 10:05 PM local time in Japan.
