The USA Island Boys are set to make their debut in the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup, which kicks off in Sydney tomorrow. Under the guidance of renowned coach Gurjit Singh, the team will compete in the Over 40s category.
Managed by Ashnil and Rajneel Prasad, the Island Boys, formed just last year, have celebrated multiple victories in soccer tournaments across the Bay Area in California. This year, they have made their presence known by clinching all major tournaments, including the NAFSA tournament against top clubs from the United States and Canada.
Coach Singh expressed the team’s enthusiasm, stating they are eager to perform at their best in the World Cup. “We are going to give our best at this tournament and show our good sportsmanship as we represent the USA,” he said.
The team will feature former Nasinu representatives Rup Edward and Virend Singh, alongside ex-USA All Stars goalkeeper Kevin Dip and Lawrence Dutt. Additionally, former Tailevu Naitasiri players Sudeshwar Ram, Nitan Kumar, and Shiva Goundar have been included as guest players to bring extra experience to the squad. The Island Boys will begin their campaign at 7 PM tomorrow, facing off against Lautoka Sanatan.
