The USA All Stars have advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Rewa in their final Group B match at Churchill Park in Lautoka. The American squad finished the group stage with an impressive unbeaten record, achieving two wins and a draw.

The decisive goal came from Richard Phelps just before halftime, who executed a remarkable 35-yard shot after noticing Rewa’s goalkeeper, Mohammed Alam, off his line. This spectacular strike proved to be the match-winner.

In an earlier moment of hope for Rewa, they were awarded a penalty kick, but Tevita Waranaivalu’s attempt was expertly saved by USA’s goalkeeper, Jeremy Zielinski, preserving the narrow lead for his team.

Alongside the USA All Stars, other teams still in the hunt in Group B include Labasa, which has accumulated 4 points, and the defending champions, NZFFI Auckland All Stars.

Looking ahead, the USA All Stars’ strong performance sets a positive tone as they prepare for the semifinals. Their unbeaten run showcases their potential and determination in the tournament, providing fans with plenty of excitement for the upcoming matches. As anticipation builds for the semifinals, the focus will be on whether they can maintain this momentum and continue their journey toward the championship.
