The USA All Stars are set to participate in the Pacific Community Cup with a sense of humility, acknowledging the challenges presented by unfamiliar opponents. Coach Imone Mohanta emphasizes the strength of the competition, particularly highlighting Fijian powerhouse Rewa, notable for their achievements in the National League and the OFC Champions League.

Reflecting on their prior experience, Mohanta recalls last year’s successful encounter with IDC champions Labasa, which provides some familiarity ahead of their tough opening match. He expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The Pacific Cup is a truly extraordinary event, bringing together the Fijian diaspora from around the world through our shared love for football. We are eagerly embracing the challenge this year and look forward to experiencing the sport in Fiji.”

With players spread across the United States, Canada, and England, Mohanta acknowledges the difficulties in preparing as a unified team due to the overlap with professional and collegiate seasons. Nevertheless, he emphasizes the quality and maturity of the players selected for the tournament, believing these traits will compensate for any lack of team cohesion.

Highlighting standout players, Mohanta praises Hayden Prasad, who excelled in assists, Oliver McFadyen, a strong contributor to their scoring, and Zach Verhoven, who is making his tournament debut. The team is also proud to include guest players with extensive professional backgrounds, contributing to their overall strength.

The articulated goal is ambitious: to secure the Pacific Cup for the United States for the first time. Mohanta concludes with a rallying call to his players, expressing confidence in their determination and pride in representing their nation.

The USA All Stars will kick off the tournament against Labasa at 4.30 PM on Thursday, followed by matches against the NZFFI Auckland All Stars and Rewa at the same time on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

By approaching the tournament with both optimism and respect for their opponents, the USA All Stars exemplifies a hopeful spirit as they strive to make history. Their blend of local talent and international experience could lead to an exciting competition and potentially a triumphant outcome.
