U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau is scheduled to embark on a diplomatic mission to Hawaii, Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa from February 22 to March 2, 2026, as announced by the U.S. State Department. This visit aims to strengthen ties and foster investment opportunities in the Pacific region.

During his time in Hawaii, Landau will co-host The Pacific Agenda: Investment, Security, and Shared Prosperity Summit alongside Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, the commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command. This summit will take place at the East-West Centre in Honolulu, where Landau is set to engage with Pacific Island leaders and U.S. business executives, encouraging increased American investment in these vital areas.

The summit aligns with the administration’s commitment to “America First” policies by focusing on commercial diplomacy and enhancing partnerships with Pacific Island nations. It is designed to bolster collaboration across critical industries and coordinate regional investment efforts among allies and partners.

After the summit, Landau will continue his travels to Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa for a series of official meetings. These discussions will emphasize commercial initiatives and reaffirm the longstanding and strong relationships between the United States and the Pacific Island nations, which will include engagements with traditional leaders to honor their roles in the community.

This visit underscores the increasing focus on the Indo-Pacific region as an area of strategic importance for the U.S., and it presents a hopeful opportunity for mutual growth and prosperity through enhanced partnerships and investments.
