The Education Ministry is urging students to promptly redeem their topped-up eTransport cards, following low redemption rates observed during the first week of school. The process for redeeming the blue subsidised cards began on Monday, January 20, 2025.

As part of infrastructure improvements, Vodafone Fiji is currently upgrading their e-ticketing terminals on buses. This upgrade will temporarily disable the redeem function on buses equipped with the new terminals. Furthermore, existing blue subsidised cards will be phased out in favor of new ones, with the full redeem function expected to be restored once the transition is complete.

Students are encouraged to take action before the upgrade is fully implemented. Parents and students are reminded to apply for the transport assistance program by filling out a form available at schools, district offices, or on the Ministry’s website. It’s essential for existing transport assistance students to reapply each year and provide updated household income information to continue receiving assistance.

Students who have lost or damaged their blue subsidised cards should complete a replacement form, have it endorsed by their Head of School, and submit it at any Vodafone outlet to obtain a new card.

This initiative aims to ensure that all eligible students have access to transport assistance and can take full advantage of the services provided. By promptly redeeming their cards and completing the necessary applications, families can benefit from the resources available to support education.
