Urgent Flood Alert: Time to Move to Higher Ground!

Residents in flood-prone areas between Sigatoka and Nausori are urged to seek higher ground immediately, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu. He emphasized the importance of taking precautions as weather conditions worsen and high tides are expected to peak around midnight.

The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and the weather office have issued alerts advising residents not to take unnecessary risks. With rising water levels being monitored closely by police in the affected towns, evacuation centers have been identified and will be made available if the situation necessitates.

Motorists are reminded to exercise caution while navigating flooded roads and to call for assistance at 917 if needed.
