Professor Prasad highlighted alarming economic contractions of 30 to 70 percent that have occurred in some Pacific economies due to severe cyclones, underscoring the intense hardships these nations continue to endure. In light of the upcoming Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, he advocated for a reworked international policy that ensures development aid is tailored specifically to the needs of vulnerable countries.
