Weather Update

Greetings, weather enthusiasts and casual observers alike! Buckle up as we bring you the latest in atmospheric antics brought to you straight from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi. It’s 1:49 PM on January 6, 2026, and the skies have some interesting plans for the Fiji group.

Prepare yourself for a medley of cloudiness and brief showers in Tailevu North, Naitasiri, Ra, eastern Macuata, and Cakaudrove provinces. Think of it as a skyward soap opera – the clouds are rolling in, and the drama involves short-lived showers! Meanwhile, in other regions, sunny smiles are expected, though don’t be surprised if a few isolated showers intrude on your outdoor plans later in the day.

And hold on to your umbrellas, folks! There’s a chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms creating a scene straight out of an action movie, followed by the potential for flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, if you love dramatic weather with a side of precaution, you’re in for a treat!

Winds are blowing in from the northeast, moderately, just enough to tousle some hair but not enough to send you spiraling down the street. Seas are on the moderate side too, so maybe skip the surprise cannonball contest for now.

Looking ahead to Thursday, it seems the clouds have a recurring role in our weather drama, with brief showers making a comeback in the same provinces. The rest of the group can look forward to continued fine weather with some light surprise showers, as if Mother Nature loves keeping us on our toes!

Now, here’s a quick weather round-up for various regions:

For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Cloudy with brief showers and likely isolated thunderstorms bringing their own “heavy” drama. Today’s max: a sizzling 32. Tomorrow: min of 24, max of 31.

For Natadradave/Korovou: A bit cloudy with showers making a guest appearance, and possible thunderstorm action. Same temperature schedule as above, keeping it chill at max 32.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: It’s basically a sun party, with only a few shy showers wanting to join in the fun. Max today is a toasty 32.

Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Keep basking in the fine weather; just watch out for those sneaky showers later in the day. Today’s max: 32.

Tavua/Rakiraki: Nothing to complain about but a couple of afternoon showers trying to crash your sunny vibes. Same delightful temp as before!

For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Fine weather with those occasional shy showers could have you wondering if they really want to join the party. Today’s max: a warm 32.

And so it goes for Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti group, Kadavu… fine weather is the theme, with just a hint of teasing showers to keep things interesting.

Finally, for the exotic Rotuma: expect some fine weather with the occasional splash of brief showers, and a little excitement with heavy rains and possible thunderstorms on the way for Thursday’s forecast.

That’s your weather scoop for today! Enjoy the day, don’t forget your sunglasses (and maybe a raincoat!), and happy adventuring in whatever weather you encounter!
