The Fijian Drua is making history with the launch of a new book detailing the club’s origins. Authored by prominent rugby commentator Greg Clark and experienced sports journalist Norman Tasker, the book, titled “The Rise of the Drua – How A Rugby Dream Captivated A Nation,” provides fans with an in-depth look at the inspiring journey that has taken 25 years to unfold.
The book chronicles the team’s formation during the height of the COVID pandemic and its remarkable rise within Super Rugby Pacific. It highlights the challenges faced both on and off the field as the club and its players navigated through relocations and ultimately managed to return to Fiji.
From its inception to triumphant achievements on the field, the book is a tribute to the players, coaches, staff, sponsors, and dedicated fans that have made the Drua one of the most cherished teams in the league, and in a remarkably short time.
Additionally, the book conveys the passion, perseverance, and pride that have defined the Drua’s journey, featuring exclusive interviews, candid revelations, never-before-seen photographs, and behind-the-scenes stories that bring the narrative to life.
Mark Evans, the CEO of Fijian Drua, commented, “This book documents our journey through the highs and lows, victories and challenges that embody the essence of the Drua. It celebrates our team’s unwavering Fijian spirit and the commitment of our players and fans. It’s essential reading for anyone who loves rugby and wants to understand the heart of the Fijian Drua.”
The book will be available for purchase at various retail locations starting October 11, with a paperback edition retailing for $35 and a hardback version for $50. Fans can also look forward to upcoming book signings and special events featuring Drua players and staff.
