The Fijian Drua is making headlines once again with the launch of a new book detailing the club’s formation and journey. Authored by notable rugby commentator Greg Clark and seasoned sports writer Norman Tasker, “The Rise of the Drua – How A Rugby Dream Captivated A Nation” provides an in-depth look at the team’s inspiring story, developed over 25 years.
This book chronicles the establishment of the team during the COVID pandemic and its impressive rise in Super Rugby Pacific. It delves into the challenges faced by the club, players, and staff as they navigated relocations, rehousing, and ultimately returning to Fiji.
Covering the team’s early beginnings and their triumphant achievements, the book pays tribute to the players, coaches, staff, sponsors, and dedicated fans who have contributed to the Drua’s status as a beloved team in a short span of time.
Highlighted are the passion, perseverance, and pride driving their journey, featuring exclusive interviews, revealing insights, never-before-seen photographs, and behind-the-scenes stories that bring the Drua’s history to life.
Mark Evans, the chief executive officer of Fijian Drua, stated, “This book is a written account of our experiences through successes and challenges, capturing the essence of the Drua. It celebrates our team’s unyielding Fijian spirit, the commitment of our players, and the steadfast support from our fans. It’s essential reading for anyone who loves rugby and wishes to understand the heart of the Fijian Drua.”
