Unveiling Strategies: FIJI Water Flying Fijians’ Preparations

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are concentrating on set-pieces this week as they prepare for their upcoming Test against the New Zealand All Blacks. The team recently left Georgia and has arrived in San Diego, where they will train before facing the three-time world champions on Saturday.

Head coach Mick Byrne, having reviewed the matches against England and the All Blacks, has identified areas for potential exploitation. He stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum from their 21-12 victory over Georgia.

“I thought we did well with our scrum, our line-out, and our mauling against Georgia, so we’ll just continue to grow that,” said Byrne. “We are working hard on our set-piece and our scrums, ensuring our commitment in that area.”

Drawing insights from England’s recent performances against the All Blacks, Byrne highlighted the need for physicality and defensive robustness. “We need to settle in early in defense to be the physical team we know we can be,” he noted.

Byrne also pinpointed the importance of gaining ground, winning tackle contests, and providing quick, quality balls to the backline. He acknowledged the well-known strength of the Flying Fijians in one-on-one situations, which they aim to showcase on Saturday.

The eagerly anticipated match between the Flying Fijians and the All Blacks will take place at 2.30 pm at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
