The Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Pita Wise, has resigned, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka indicating that his departure is connected to a complaint. Public Service Commission chair Luke Rokovada initially announced that Wise’s resignation was due to personal reasons.
When pressed for details, Prime Minister Rabuka confirmed that he received a complaint, which was forwarded to the Public Service Commission, leading to Wise’s resignation. Rokovada stated that the commission met to discuss the issue with Wise, who ultimately chose to resign.
Rokovada mentioned that he had informed Rabuka via email about the situation, and subsequently sent a formal resignation letter along with a press release confirming Wise’s departure. Wise has served as Permanent Secretary since January 2023 and has over 30 years of experience in the civil service, holding similar positions in previous administrations.
