A family friend of the late Michael Cuvuka, whose body was discovered in the Navua river last week, is advocating for a comprehensive investigation into the details surrounding his death. The Fiji Police Force has stated that Mr. Cuvuka died from drowning following a night spent at a resort.
Mary Benefield expressed her family’s deep concerns on social media, stating, “Michael, your death has left us with unanswered questions, and as your family, we continue to seek truth and justice.” She respectfully requested that the Fiji Police conduct a thorough and transparent inquiry to uncover what transpired between 2 AM and 6 AM on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
Benefield noted that the police’s preliminary assertion of drowning contradicts accounts from witnesses and the evidence gathered thus far. “The story remains incomplete and inconclusive. As his family, we need closure, and we implore law enforcement to investigate this matter diligently,” she added.
