A 49-year-old man has been remanded by the Nausori Magistrates Court on charges of allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece. The incident is said to have taken place on September 2 at the defendant’s home, where the victim went to return an item belonging to his daughter. It is alleged that he forcibly assaulted her. The victim’s mother reported the case to the Vunidawa Police Station. The man faces two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. He will remain in custody until the case is mentioned again on September 19 at the Suva High Court.
