A 49-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the alleged rape of his 13-year-old niece. The Nausori Magistrates Court heard that the incident took place on September 2 at the accused’s residence.
The victim reportedly visited his home to return an item belonging to the man’s daughter, during which it is claimed that he forcibly assaulted her. The victim’s mother subsequently reported the incident to the Vunidawa Police Station.
The man faces multiple charges, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. The case has been scheduled for mention on September 19 at the Suva High Court.
