A 49-year-old man has been remanded in custody following charges of allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece, as ordered by the Nausori Magistrates Court on Thursday. The incident reportedly took place on September 2 at the man’s residence, where he is accused of forcibly taking the victim while she was returning an item belonging to his daughter.
The victim’s mother reported the incident to the Vunidawa Police Station. The man faces multiple charges, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. The case has been adjourned until September 19, when it will be mentioned at the Suva High Court.
