The Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) is set to organize a half-day workshop led by Jerad Dias, a prominent figure in the finance and accounting sectors. As the founder and Chief Knowledge Officer of Minds Global Academy (Pvt) Ltd and CEO of Cabraal FPO (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Dias brings over 20 years of experience in audit, advisory, and training. His academic credentials include a B.Com (Special) degree, and he has made notable contributions in the industry, including his roles as Partner at BDO Sri Lanka and leadership positions within the Training & Technical departments at EY and BDO.
The workshop titled “The Most Powerful and Practical Approach in Risk Identification & Assessment in External and Internal Audits” aims to equip participants with the skills to accurately identify high-risk areas and develop targeted procedures that enhance organizational value. According to FICA Professional Development chairman Tarlochan Singh, the event is aimed at all sectors looking to improve their risk identification and assessment abilities.
Key topics to be covered during the workshop include audit approaches—comparing controls-driven and risk-focused audits, the role of internal audits in identifying material misstatements, and how internal audits can create value beyond mere compliance. Additionally, participants will learn to master materiality concepts in audits and innovate their approaches to risk identification.
The workshop is scheduled for September 12 at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) training room located in Nasese, Suva.
