The Land Use Division of the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources is actively encouraging landowners to invest in their land, providing a significant incentive by offering 100 percent of lease payments directly to them. Marika Tunidau, the manager of the Land Use Division, emphasized that the initiative aims to maximize the financial returns and benefits for landowners, including a free land surveying service.

Tunidau pointed out that landowners can significantly enhance their earnings by entering leases based on proper survey assessments. He stated, “We issue leases on a proper survey plan. If an investor is willing to invest in the land, we will issue a lease based on that proper assessment.” This initiative is designed to empower landowners, ensuring that their lands are used in a sustainable manner while optimizing their financial gains.

Moreover, Tunidau reassured landowners that partnering with the Land Use Division would be a beneficial move for those striving to make the most of their land resources. He mentioned the array of government benefits available for landowners willing to register their land for investments, reinforcing the division’s role as a land development facilitator.

This proactive approach towards land utilization is reminiscent of prior discussions led by Raijeli Taga, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, who highlighted the greater advantages of native leases. Taga noted that land leased under native terms allows for higher returns to landowners, as all revenue is directed back to them with minimal operational retains by the ministry.

Looking ahead, both current and past initiatives reflect a strong commitment to empowering landowners and promoting sustainable development in Fiji. By collaborating with government resources, landowners can effectively transform their unused or underutilized lands into productive investments, enhancing their economic well-being and contributing positively to their communities. This initiative not only promotes individual benefits but also fosters a spirit of communal development and progress.

In summary, the endeavors of the Land Use Division, alongside previous insights from the Ministry, illustrate a united effort to uplift landowners in Fiji, paving the way for a prosperous future where land resources are efficiently and sustainably managed for collective growth.
