The Fiji Sugar Corporation Ltd (FSC) has announced that applications for the 2025 FSC Apprentice Program will be available starting this month. The program aims to provide young people with the essential skills required to pursue successful careers in engineering and technical sectors.
Participants in the program receive comprehensive support and coordination from FSC. One notable success story is Siobahn Bogidrau, currently an electrical fitter apprentice at the FSC Mill in Lautoka. She emphasized the importance of setting goals and maintaining focus, stating, “If you set your goals, work hard, and stay focused, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”
Ms. Bogidrau’s interest in engineering was sparked during a career class at Natabua High School. Motivated by the career opportunities available, she enrolled in the FSC Apprentice Program this year, where she has received valuable training and experience that are pivotal for her professional growth.
The program not only imparts technical skills necessary for engineering but also fosters collaboration and enhances the apprentices’ overall proficiency. Ms. Bogidrau expressed her gratitude for the on-the-job training and the confidence it has given her in her daily tasks. “I’ve never felt limited as a woman in this field; the corporation treats all of us equally and continually encourages me to keep learning and improving,” she noted.
Looking to the future, Ms. Bogidrau is enthusiastic about her ongoing journey with FSC and is keen on advancing her studies in engineering, affirming that “the skills I’m learning now are just the beginning.”
The FSC Apprentice Program not only creates pathways for young talent but also promotes an inclusive environment that supports all aspiring engineers, cultivating a new generation of skilled professionals in Fiji’s technical industries.
For those interested in applying, this program represents a significant opportunity for skill development and professional growth.
