The Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) is set to host a half-day workshop led by Jerad Dias, a notable figure in finance and accounting.
Mr. Dias, who is the founder and Chief Knowledge Officer at Minds Global Academy (Pvt) Ltd and the CEO of Cabraal FPO (Pvt) Ltd, brings over 20 years of experience in audit, advisory, and training. He holds a B. Com (Special) degree and has made significant contributions to the industry, including his previous role as a Partner at BDO Sri Lanka and his leadership in the Training & Technical departments at EY and BDO.
Titled “The Most Powerful and Practical Approach in Risk Identification & Assessment in External and Internal Audits,” Mr. Dias’s workshop aims to help attendees accurately identify high-risk areas and develop effective procedures that provide value to their organizations.
Tarlochan Singh, chairman of FICA Professional Development, stated that the workshop is open to all sectors seeking to improve their risk identification and assessment skills and make impactful changes within their organizations. Participants can expect to learn about various topics, including:
– Audit approaches: The differences between controls-driven and risk-focused audits.
– Material misstatements: The role of internal audits in identifying material misstatements.
– Strategic internal audits: How internal audits can add value beyond compliance.
– Audit materiality: Understanding materiality concepts in both internal and external audits.

The workshop is scheduled for September 12 at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) training room in Nasese, Suva.
