Unity among traditional leaders plays a crucial role in the progress of Cakaudrove, according to Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo. During the recent Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting held in Yaroi, Savusavu, he encouraged chiefs to collaborate to address pressing issues such as crime, drug abuse, violence, and rising HIV cases.
Vosarogo announced that the upcoming national budget for 2025-2026 will allocate specific funds for Cakaudrove, emphasizing the importance of community leaders taking the initiative to seek assistance for their constituencies. He highlighted plans for infrastructural improvements, including road and jetty upgrades for Savusavu, Taveuni, and Rabi, which could significantly enhance connectivity and economic opportunities for the region.
Vosarogo’s message echoed sentiments expressed by other leaders, reinforcing the necessity of unity and shared responsibility among the people of Cakaudrove. The call for collaboration is not just relevant to Cakaudrove, but resonates with broader conversations previously initiated by leadership figures like Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and Ratu Viliame Seruvakula, who have emphasized the critical need for community engagement to combat social challenges and enhance well-being across the province.
The ongoing dialogue at these meetings reflects a hopeful outlook, with leaders recognizing that a united front can lead to resilience and prosperity. As the two-day council meeting wraps up, the commitment observed among local leaders provides a promising path toward tackling the social and economic issues facing their communities.
