Professor Biman Prasad, the leader of the National Federation Party, has expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s friendship and impartiality. During the Party Convention in Sigatoka, Prof Prasad acknowledged the Prime Minister’s consistent support during his personal struggles within the Government.

He remarked, “This leadership is promising for the future of both our Government and our nation as we aim to enhance our governance and the country’s welfare.” Prof Prasad recognized the enduring nature of their political partnership, which he stated commenced even before they entered Government.

While addressing the complexities of coalition governance, he noted that disagreements among the three involved parties do occur, sometimes in public forums. “We anticipate that. Each of us is in politics for distinct reasons and represents diverse groups with unique priorities. However, I want to emphasize that despite public differences, there is mutual respect among us. We approach our disagreements as democrats, openly sharing our views with one another and with the public. As mature individuals, we can have differing opinions while maintaining respect for one another.”

He further added, “In a Coalition Government, it’s essential to value your partners and their perspectives, as respect fosters trust. After years of governance marked by distrust, we are committed to rebuilding trust within our country.”
