The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) celebrated its inaugural Church Parade for 2025 this morning, hosting simultaneous services at Centenary Church in Suva, Kaleli Methodist Church in Labasa, and Natabua Church in Lautoka. The event gathered officers along with their families for a meaningful time of reflection and community from 8 am to 9 am.
In Suva, Acting Commissioner Naucukidi addressed the congregation, expressing appreciation for the officers’ families’ strong attendance. He emphasized the officers’ dedication to their roles, noting, “I thank the officers for your relentless commitment to unity, dedication, and hard work in fulfilling our obligations as required by the government.” He acknowledged recent challenges faced by the FCS, urging officers to prioritize unity, stating, “We will be failing in our duties if there is disunity in our approach.”
The sermon was delivered by Reverend Kinijoji Serutawake, who inspired attendees with a message centered on unity, humility, and respect for lawful authority. He urged officers to focus on their spiritual development, especially during challenging times, stressing the importance of leadership rooted in integrity and wisdom.
This Church Parade serves not just as a ceremonial event but as a reaffirmation of the core values driving the FCS: dedication, humility, and spiritual leadership. This approach aligns with previous initiatives aimed at improving the organization’s image and effectiveness, as highlighted in earlier articles discussing prior parades and the overarching goals within the Fiji corrections system.
The spirit of collaboration and commitment to personal and professional development depicted in today’s event reflects a hopeful outlook for the future of the FCS, as it moves towards establishing a more rehabilitative and community-engaged corrections environment.
