Uniting for Our Planet: Join the Ecumenical Season of Creation Prayer Service

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Suva, alongside various Faith-Based Organizations, is set to organize an Ecumenical and Interreligious Season of Creation Prayer Service on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Ratu Sukuna Park from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

The Season of Creation, which takes place annually from September 1 to October 4, is a global observance dedicated to prayer and action aimed at safeguarding our shared environment. It is a time to honor God as the Creator and to recognize creation as a divine gift that calls for collective stewardship.

This year’s theme, “To Hope and Act with Creation,” encourages faith communities to respond with optimism in light of the pressing global environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity decline, and pollution.

As many grapple with eco-anxiety, faith leaders urge believers to draw strength from their faith and engage in meaningful actions through prayer, service, and unity.

Archbishop Peter Loy Chong, the leader of the Catholic Church in Fiji, emphasized the importance of collaboration through faith to enhance the message of environmental protection, which is central to this Ecumenical Service.

The event aims to unite attendees in promoting environmental stewardship and highlighting the role of faith in safeguarding the planet, hoping that all participants will join in prayer and action for the Earth.
