The Construction Energy and Timber Workers Union of Fiji (CETWUF) has successfully signed a collective agreement with Amex Resources Ltd in Lautoka, marking a significant milestone for the union. CETWUF’s national secretary, John Paul, expressed gratitude towards Amex for cooperating with the union despite the challenges the company has faced recently.
On the day of the agreement, Amex also distributed Christmas bonuses to its workers, reinforcing the company’s commitment to its employees. The workforce at Amex consists of over 100 employees, with approximately 80 being union members.
In addition to the collective agreement, improvements to working conditions have been established. CETWUF and Amex have scheduled a meeting for March 2025 to address salary concerns, indicating a proactive approach to ongoing labor discussions.
