Union Stalwart and Lawyer Appointed as New Board Executives

Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Group (ATH) has announced the election of union stalwart Attar Singh as chairperson and Suva lawyer Tanya Waqanika as deputy chairperson of the ATH board.

In an announcement at the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) this week, ATH stated that the new board leadership will support its ongoing efforts to flourish and expand its influence in the Pacific region.

“Mr. Singh brings extensive experience and leadership to his new role as chairperson of ATH. His distinguished career includes roles as a union leader, board director, and board chairperson of other large entities in Fiji and abroad. He has been instrumental in driving innovation and growth within the ATH Group in his role as ATH director and director/chairperson of other ATH subsidiaries,” ATH said.

“Ms. Waqanika, a highly respected lawyer and businesswoman, was elected by the ATH Board as deputy chairperson. Her expertise in legal affairs and governance will be invaluable in steering the company through the complex regulatory landscapes of the telecommunications industry. Her commitment to excellence and integrity ensures that ATH will continue to uphold the highest standards in all its operations.”

ATH has subsidiaries in Fiji, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, and Papua New Guinea. It is the only telecommunications company listed on SPX, and its shares last traded at $2.20 a share when this edition went to press.
