Tenth-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov withdrew due to injury in the first set of his fourth-round match against Daniil Medvedev at Wimbledon on Sunday after a lengthy treatment break.
Medvedev, seeded fifth, will now face top seed Jannick Sinner in the quarter-finals. The Russian holds a 6-5 head-to-head advantage over the Italian world No.1 but has lost their last five encounters.
Dimitrov started strong, quickly advancing to a 3-0 lead, before Medvedev managed a comeback. The Bulgarian then slipped on Court One, continuing for a few more games that Medvedev claimed, before taking a medical time out after the seventh game.
Dimitrov returned briefly but struggled with mobility, ultimately calling it quits after the eighth game, during which Medvedev served three aces.
