The Wai rugby team from Labasa is placing its hopes on the Macuata players to secure a victory at the Ganilau leg of the Fiji Sports Council under-20 7s tournament. Featuring professional talent such as Leniatasi Radianarova, who has experience playing for the national sevens team and with the Rams Army in the United Kingdom, the team is poised for competition.
Team manager Emosi Catanasiga acknowledged the challenges ahead, recognizing that formidable teams such as Dominion Brothers, Village Boys, and PSM Aflame are also in the tournament. While acknowledging that they may be viewed as underdogs, he cautioned that larger teams should not underestimate their potential.
Catanasiga stated that the players are treating every game as a final due to the comprehensive training and dedication they have invested in preparation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high discipline and mental focus to succeed in the competition.
The Ganilau leg of the tournament is scheduled for November 15-16, as part of a series that boasts a total prize pool of $78,500 across five legs.
